herve - see me (dubsided)
up next is the a-side on the forthcoming herve single on dave taylor's 'dubsided' records.
after sinden's dollop appearance a couple of months back, he was kind enough to giving the skull juice boys & myself a 2 hour listening session where as far as i remember one out of every two tunes had been produced by joshua harvey (herve).
the man must have so many tunes forthcoming its unreal - first off you have his 'herve' releases, then his 'speaker junk' / 'voodoo chilli' stuff with trevor loveys (including the massive 'look what you've done to me' - as remixed by the man mustapha 3000), a whole load of stuff (some with sinden) as 'the count of monte cristal', his 'young lovers' stuff (more 'mellow'), his 'tomorrow people' stuff (minimal), his bootlegs as 'speaker punks' and his MASSIVE 'f*ck f*uck' remix of 'hijack' by hijackin'!

the feeling - love it when you call (lo-fi fnk remix)
the feeling played nottingham last week, and the most exciting thing that came of this was finding out:
i) the bassist from the band is married to sophie ellis 'murder on the dance-floor' bextor
and
ii) my favourite swedes lo-fi fnk had remixed the feeling's 'love it when you call'.
i cant help with the first but here is this:

simian - never be alone
im sticking this up due to the version on other blogs having an annoying bit of silence about 5 seconds in.........
imagine the scene (a-la-breakwater).........
"hey mr dj, who has done this cool new live version of justice's 'we are your friends'??"
"yadda yadda yadda simian. yadda yadda yadda never be alone. yadda yadda yadda 2002......."
simian - never be alone
www.wearesimian.com/
ps. i spoke to james ford from simian mobile disco at a houseparty a while back about getting the acapella of 'never be alone' - which he said wouldnt be a problem if he managed to find it on his computer?!?
the seperate parts of the tune were sent out as part of a remix competition (which justice lost?!?) so if anyone has the acapella pleeeeeeeease send it to me - i will love you forever......
friendly fires - your love
first up today is a cover version of what is regarded by many as the first house tune of all time - the 1983 jamie principle & frankie knuckles classic 'your love'.
the band responsible are friendly fires (hailing from st.albans & nottingham) and the song is released as the b-side to their debut release the 'photobooth ep' (which recently recieved 10/10 in vice magazine!)
enjoy...........

keith - mona lisa's child (alan braxe & fred falke remix)
keith are a manchester-based band who have been around for little while, but to be honest neither their singles nor remixes (from the likes of simian mobile disco, matthew herbert & jack bullit) have grabbed out attention.
then this comes along and knocks our heart out.
it has to be one of the best 'indie-electro' remixes going, and as far as we have seen, doesnt appear to be getting the love it deserves.
alan braxe & fred falke are legends. simple as.
recently their mixes of death from above 1979, goldfrapp & royksopp have been getting a fair bit of rotation, but it is their tune 'intro' from the running ep on roule (2000) for which they are most well known. (anyone that saw mr braxe at fabric over the summer would know that the tune still kills it.......)
anyway, here it is:

breakwater - release the beast
its been a solid favorite of ours for some time now (since jfk from mstrkrft put us onto it) - but has recently been recieving some dj support from simain mobile disco, freeform 5 & the bang-gang djs. due to not seeing it up on any other blogs i thought i'd stick it up!
whenever we play it the question is always 'what's this remix of daft punk - robot rock'?!?
if only you knew........
this track comes from breakwater's 1980 album 'splashdown'. i would put up links to buy it from - but to be honest your best bet is to go digging at your local second hand record shop. (if you dont fancy that ive seen the japanese import cd available on amazon.com for about $40)....

now, daft punk - robot rock - brilliant sample or total rip off??? you decide.........
mekon - yes yes y'all (sinden's baile funk remix)
saturday night we were all at stealth vs. rescued in nottingham catching switch, sinden & annie mac tear the place apart - and it made me think that maybe i should put up a piece of mr sinden's production work onto our brand new blog.
this is his 'baile funk' remix of yes yes y'all by wall of sound man mekon (featuring roxanne shante):

justice promo mix.......
ive been sitting on this for a couple of years and not too sure if its been available elsewhere, but its the mixtape that justice sent out before playing their first uk dates and was recorded at the rex club in paris 14/04/2005.
it includes tracks and remixes by janet jackson, dmx crew, mu, mr oizo, scenario rock, the human league, the prodigy, the comodores, vitalic, the beatles, chromeo, ian pooley, sebastiAn, soulwax, miss kitten & any more - all mixed up in justice's special way.........
this recording isnt available to buy anywhere but i do recomend you buy EVERYTHING from justice (and the whole 'ed banger' crew for that matter!).
the last dollop with uffie & sebastiAn rocked - and fingers crossed we will be getting some more ed banger action in the not too distant future ;)
anyway, enjoy..........

here are the first of our mp3s....
all of them have been purchased - which we advise you all do too......
we are gonna try and bring you mp3s which are (as yet) unfeatured on any other mp3 blogs......................
anyway, here we go!
the first single on miss winehouse's new album 'back to black' (produced by mark ronson (of 'ooh wee' fame) & salaam remi (nas, the fugees etc) as remixed by hot chip.
we got sent the 12" promo which had both the hot chip instrumental & vocal remixes - but seeing as we havent got round to ripping the 12", the vocal version (available on i-tunes) will have to do.........
